Sickle Isolators
Sickle isolators a blind flange type shut off, approved by UVV
Sickle isolators are being used whenever extremely high dust burdens in the gas have to be handled. They are predominantly employed in steel and cement works as well as in coke production. The sealing is hermetic and the equivalent of a blind flange connection.
A blind disc pivots around a fixed point positioned outside the duct. To facilitate this a coaxially retractable sealing frame is first actuated thereby opening a slot through which the disc travels during opening or closing. The sealing frame is powered electrically or hydraulically. Once locked again the seal between disc and frame remains effective in the event of loss of external power. Sickle isolators are supplied with or without disc enclosing bonnets.
